OBCM National Day of Prayer for the African American

January 18, 2012

Message from Fr. Jim Goode, OFM:

Friends and Colleagues,

In just two weeks we will come together as members of the African American and African Family to celebrate Black History. For us as Catholics we will gather at the altar of God on the first Sunday of Black History Month to celebrate our 23rd annual National Day of Prayer for the African American and African Family.

We all have many things to pray for on that day. For starters, we have to thank God for each other and the many gifts we have shared to enhance the growth and development of our Black Catholic Families. As leaders of the African American and African community, together let us invite our families across this nation to celebrate this National Day of Prayer for the African American and African Family. What a wonderful sign of solidarity…in prayer together for our people. What moment of grace and unity await us. “Thank God we are not empty handed.”
